Born and Raised in Charleston<\/h2>\n

John Duffy was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. He is a graduate of Bishop England High School and of Furman University, where he received his Bachelor’s in History and Spanish. While at Furman, and upon graduation, he was afforded the opportunity to travel and live abroad in Spain, Bolivia and Argentina.<\/p>\n

It was there that he developed his ability to fluently speak Spanish, a skill that he utilizes today in his practice.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A General Practice Attorney with a Wide Range of Expertise<\/h2>\n

John’s practice is a general one handling a wide variety of matters in Probate, Worker’s Compensation, Criminal Defense in all Courts of South Carolina. His experience and practice in Civil matters ranges from Contract Disputes, Construction Defect, Worker’s Compensation, Car Wrecks, and Premises Liability cases. He also practices in Family Court where he assists his clients in handling complex Family Court issues<\/a> in divorce, custody, and equitable distribution.<\/p>\n

He is experienced in a wide range of Criminal Matters from Magistrates\/Municipal Courts, DUI’s, Aggravated Felonies in State General Sessions Court and criminal matters in Federal Court. John has tried cases to verdict in front of juries in the Courts of Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester Counties.<\/strong><\/p>\n

John Duffy is a Fixture in the Legal Community<\/h2>\n

John is a current member and a past Board Member of the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers<\/a>. He was also a former panel member of the Federal Court’s Criminal Justice Act appointment list, handling Federal Criminal matters. John also previously served as an Associate Judge for the City of North Charleston Municipal Court.<\/p>\n

John is admitted to practice in all Courts of this State. He is also admitted to the District Court of South Carolina and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.<\/p>\n
